Round 1 of the 2009 Sunshine Series is now run and done.

Results should be available shortly.

Here are a few words from the event organiser.

Phew!

Firstly I'd like to thank John P and his family for their company, friendship, encouragement, advice and assistance, for access to a great track and for their company.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the event a success. Everything good about the event is all your fault. Love Ya Work Hell Yeh!

To all the racers and spectators, I hope you had a great day. We had as near perfect track conditions and weather as we could ever hope for.
Thanks for your patience despite the heat in the middle of the day. Rest assured everything was happening as fast as it could.
I would have loved the chance to sit down in the shade with you for a few minutes and have a cold drink.

I know we had competitors from as far away as Ballina and Maryborough.
Some of our racers are Australian National champions and we had a top 10 finisher from the 24hours of Adrenalin race last year.
Sunshine Bicycle Works brought down a bus load of riders (and huge trailer load of bikes) from the Sunshine Coast.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.  Again I hope you all had a great day.

Running the event would be impossible without the support of good people. We had the best.
Many thanks to,
Marshall Philp
Di Croft
Commissaire Vaughan Casely
Dave Pannell
Tanya Britton
The Carrier Family
Sharon Jones
Ange Skirving and Dennis Cullen
Barney
Chris Cowell
Many other locals, whose names I don't recall right now, who helped out and put 100s of hours in to preparing the track.
- I know you all went above and beyond, often at the loss of personal social opportunities and at some personal expense, to cover jobs I couldn't even instruct you on. Thank you so much.

Greig Smart - MC extraordinaire, a real pro. As the public face of the event you made the rest of us look good. Big thanks.

Two Wheel Promotions - how 3 people deal with so much data and timing information in such a short amount of time is beyond my understanding. Thank you for a great job, the loan of 2-way radios for event personell and also for your invaluable advice leading up to the event.

Lockyer Valley SES and Swirl and Pedro - for marshalling, radio comms, and track sweep riding. I know from experience it can be a lonely job at times, I hope you enjoyed watching the racing at your location. Thank you.

The Gatton Soccer Club - good food with a smile. Thanks for your help again this year.
Tarryn from Cafe2U (<plug> soon to be Jungle Bean Cafe </plug>) - caffeine dealer and maker of fine frappes. Yum!

Our major sponsors provided over $6000 worth of prizes.
I was blown away by the generosity of all our sponsors. Huge thanks. Please give them your support.
Chris from ChainGang
Jetts Fitness Jindalee (winners should look inside their Jetts bottle for additional prize vouchers)
Tryit Fitness personal trainers
Tony from TC's Bike Barr
Simon from Race Elements

Lockyer Valley Regional Council - graded the road and provided the Gatton Showgrounds for free camping.
Geoff Udy Motorcycles - loaned us the 2 quads for moving gear around on raceday.

Round 2 is on at Karringal (Mt Cotton) on 15th March (coincidentally the first weekend of Bike Week) run by The Rats.
TWP have the entry forms.
I've no doubt Helen Walker and the event team would love your help, even if you can only give them an hour. You'll lighten the load on some very dedicated and hard working volunteers.

Lastly I'd like to thank John P and his family for their company, friendship, encouragement, advice and assistance, for access to a great track and for their company.
(Yes I've mentioned this twice. John and I have a disagreement over whether the place of most importance is first or last. He says first, I say last. So to ensure he gets the preeminence he deserves I'm doing both. Snicker Snicker)

Andrew
... who is not ready to begin to think about thinking about running another event anytime soon.
